Friedrich, dr Jacek
Jacek Friedrich was born in 1965 in Gdańsk and studied art history at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
His doctoral dissertation, which he defended at the University of Gdańsk, examined Gdańsk architecture after 1945. His research addresses issues between architectural and cultural history. He is the author of the book “Gdańskie zabytki architektury do końca XVIII wieku” (“Gdańsk’s Architectural Monuments until the End of the 18th Century”), which was published in Gdańsk in 1995.
Jacek Friedrich is initiator co-author of the exhibition “Unwanted Heritage”, which is on view at Gdańsk’s Łaźnia Centre for Contemporary Art in 2005. In the exhibition, Gdańsk’s and Sopot’s twentieth century architecture is being re-evaluated.
His most recent project is a guide to Gdańsk for children.
