Gillen, Eckhart
Eckhardt Gillen was born in 1947 in Karlsruhe. After studying art history, German literature, and sociology, he earned a doctorate in art history.
Eckhardt Gillen curates exhibitions of 20th century art; thus he curated, for instance, the exhibition “Deutschlandbilder”. His writings likewise deal with 20th century art; his most recent publication is the book “Das Kunstkombinat DDR. Zäsuren einer gescheiterten Kunstpolitik” (Köln 2005).
He was awarded the Bürgerpreis zur deutschen Einheit. Eckhardt Gillen works at the MuseumsDienst Berlin.
