Dr. Marta Doehler-Behzadi

Marta Doehler-Behzadi was born in 1957. After her studies at the Hochschule für Architektur und Bauwesen in Weimar, now Bauhaus-Universität, she worked in the office of the chief architect of the city of Leipzig. Later she worked at the GDR’s Bauakademie in Berlin. Afterwards she returned to Leipzig to work for the Büro für Architektur und Stadtraumplanung.
Marta Doehler-Behzadi has been an independent architect since 1991. In 1993 she and Iris Reuther established the Büro für urbane Projekte in Leipzig. Further information on Dr. Marta Doehler-Behzadi’s work and the Büro für urbane Projekte is available at www.urbaneprojekte.de.

dr Jacek Friedrich

Jacek Friedrich was born in 1965 in Gdańsk and studied art history at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
His doctoral dissertation, which he defended at the University of Gdańsk, examined Gdańsk architecture after 1945. His research addresses issues between architectural and cultural history. He is the author of the book “Gdańskie zabytki architektury do końca XVIII wieku” (“Gdańsk’s Architectural Monuments until the End of the 18th Century”), which was published in Gdańsk in 1995.
Jacek Friedrich is initiator co-author of the exhibition “Unwanted Heritage”, which is on view at Gdańsk’s Łaźnia Centre for Contemporary Art in 2005. In the exhibition, Gdańsk’s and Sopot’s twentieth century architecture is being re-evaluated.
His most recent project is a guide to Gdańsk for children.

Lena Prents

Born in Minsk, Byelorussia, in 1972, Lena Prents studied German and English philology there, from 1989 to 1994; between 1994 and 2000 she studied German and art history in Berlin. Lena Prents has worked for the German Guggenheim in Berlin and completed an internship at the Bauhaus Museum in Weimar. She received a stipend for young curators from the Cultural Foundation of the Land of Saxony to work at the Gallery for Contemporary Art in Leipzig. Most recently she was project assistant for “Heimat Moderne” (Modern Homeland) in Leipzig. Her main fields of work are the history of architecture and design, contemporary art, and the art and cinema of Eastern Europe.

Agnieszka Wołodźko

Born in Gdansk, in 1961; studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. Today Agnieszka Wolodzko works as an artist, art critic and curator. She is a curator and programme coordinator at the “Laznia” Centre for Contemporary Art. The current focus of her interest is concentrated on the following topics: mobility as a unit of the era of globalisation, relationships between urban civilisation and nature, and contemporary conceptions of urban space.
