Prof. Sabine Breitsameter

Born in 1960, Sabine Breitsameter is a broadcaster, festival curator and professor. Since the mid-1980s she is an author, director and editor in the domain of experimental radio, electro-acoustic music and acoustic media art. She coordinates “AudioHyperspace”, the online magazine of SWR2 RadioART which explores acoustic art forms and data-space. Since 2003 Sabine Breitsameter contributed to the establishment of the department of Sound Studies at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she also lectures on experimental sound design as a visiting professor. Between 1993 and 1996 she produced the avant-garde radio play “International Radio Art” at Sender Freies Berlin. She also workes as an editor at Hessischer Rundfunk, where she directed the international conference “All Ears: A Symposium on Listening” which ran parallel to Documenta X in Kassel, 1996 – 1997. Sabine Breitsameter also was a radio play editor at Radio Bremen. Currently she works as curator for Berlin University of the Arts, several Goethe Institutes in Asia and America, and the ZKM in Karlsruhe. She lectures on acoustic media art, electro-acoustic art forms, and contemporary listening culture.


Martin Conrads

* 1969, lives in Berlin, freelance journalist, author, studied communications, psychology and modern history. From the mid-1990s to the 2000s he was a member of groups like mikro e.V. or the internet-radio project convex tv with an emphasis on audio concepts, radio plays and media culture. Artistic works include sound, text, picture, internet and real space. Contributions for numerous publications and magazines. Co-edited the magazine "Texte zur Kunst", 2001 – 2002. Member of the curating team at the "6th Werkleitz Biennale" in Halle, 2004. Works at Radio_Copernicus in media contexts, artistic productions and experimental radio.


Thomas Doktor

1967, lives in Berlin, artistic radio producer, studied modern and medieval German literature, dramatics and philosophy in Berlin. Works for Deutschlandradio Kultur since 1997 in the field of radio plays, features and spoken word productions. Coorganised “Sonic Arts Lounge" at the Maerz Musik Festival, 2003. Works at Radio_Copernicus with a focus on literature, radio plays, experimental word and sound productions.


Robert Gawłowski

* 1957, lives in Wrocław, cultural broadcaster and author, university lecturer for journalism at the University of Wrocław. Worked as head radio editor at Polskie Radio and artistic director of the avant-garde-radio festival Macrophon in Wrocław, 1991 – 1994.


Olaf Matthes

Geboren 1977, lebt in Greifswald, kreativer Techniker und künstlerischer Programmierer, Studium der Computer-Visualistik und Kunst, Zusammenarbeit mit international renommierten Künstlern, seit den 1990er Jahren algorhythmische Kompositionen mit eigener Soft- und Hardware, entwickelt Streaming- und Kontrollsoftware (basierend auf Pure Data und Max/MSP) für Veranstaltungen, produzierte verschiedene Features für unabhängige Radiosender, arbeitet für „Radio_Copernicus" als technischer Direktor und als Produzent von Musik- und Wortbeiträgen.


Thomas Schumacher

Geboren 1968 in Eppingen, lebt in Berlin, Studium der Neueren Deutschen, Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft, Theater-, Film- und Fernsehwissenschaft in Bonn und Berlin, Herausgabe, Redaktion und Vertrieb einer selbstverlegten Musikzeitschrift in den 1980er Jahren, seit 1999 bei Deutsche Welle TV, Berlin, zunächst als Redaktionsassistent, seit 2001 als Produktionsassistent, Projektleitungsassistent bei „Radio_Copernicus", Mitarbeit beim Studiengang Sound Studies an der Universität der Künste/Berlin.


Jacek Skolimowski

Geboren 1980, lebt in Warschau, Journalist und Radio-Macher, Club-DJ. Studium der Japanologie; eigenes Programm beim polnischen alternativen Sender Radiostacja, in dem er eine Spannbreite von Musik präsentierte; in Kooperation mit dem Warschauer Herbst leitet er beim Jazz-Radio eine Sendung über zeitgenössische Musik; arbeitet als freier Mitarbeiter für verschiedene polnische Magazine wie „Przekrój”, „Aktivist”, „Fluid”,„Glissando”; Co-Autor der Bücher „warsaw-en mouvement“ und „ warszawa -wposzukiwaniu centrum“. Für Radio_Copernicus arbeitet Jacek Skolimowski u.a. als DJ und Mode-rator.


Marta Sztanka

Geboren 1975, lebt in Warschau, Kuratorin und Radiomacherin, Studium der Theaterwissenschaft an der Warschauer Theater-akademie, arbeitete beim polnischen alternativen Sender Radiostacja seit seiner Gründung 1998 bis 2002, arbeitet bei Radio Nacional de Espania, 2002 Mitbegründerin des Vereins „Transfer Association for Cultural Initiatives“; 2003 Organisation des Festivals „Androgyne Review of Films“; 2003, 2004 Kuratorin des internationalen DJ -& Komponisten-Festivals „TURNINGSOUNDS“. Programmschwerpunkte bei Radio_Copernicus: neue Literatur, zeitgenössische polnische Kunstszene, Medienkunst-Festivals, freie Radio-Projekte.


Katrin Werner

* 1971, lives in Berlin, editorial and production assistant, studied art history, business studies and psychology in Freiburg and Berlin. Worked as scientific assistant at the exhibition department of the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, 2004 – 2005. Chairwoman of the “Verein für Vollbeschäftigung und Erforschung des Unbemerkten e.V.”, 1998 – 2000. Worked as organisational assistant for “art forum berlin”, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum New York and the Goethe Institute in Freiburg. Conducts continuous research in the field of intermedia art.


Adam Witkowski

Born in 1978, lives in Gdansk, audio and video artist, majored in media studies at the Academy of Arts in Gdansk. Cooperates with different media artists and has won several honours at art festivals. Released first solo album in 2003. Works in technical areas at the Laznia Centre of Contemporary Art in Gdansk. Works for Radio_Copernicus mainly as a technical expert and also in the areas of music archives, DJ sets and presenting.



Barbara Więckowska

Born in 1981. Barbara Więckowska studied German literature and journalism. Nowadays she lives in Wrocław.
For “Radio_Copernicus” she works as interpreter and assistant to the Polish project coordination.
